Recently, our community has faced a number of shootings in the Oakwood and Vaughan area. My office has heard from many who are feeling deeply saddened, afraid and angry. This level of violence does not belong anywhere in civil society - let alone in a community so many call home.
We need to get to the root causes of violence.
Root causes like, racism, poverty, precarious housing and a lack of desperately needed community resources.
I would like to invite you to a Community Healing Call-In.
We are going to be gathering for dinner and discussion about community health, wellness & safety. It is my aim to bring as many voices into the room as possible, so that we can hear a diverse array of opinions about what our community needs right now, and also to take the time to support one another through this difficult time.
Dinner and Refreshments will be provided.
